This weekend we have some seriously awesome shows coming at you. Don’t miss these two days of great music!
Afroflow: OMAI Co-Sponsorship
Mike E w/ DJ Kool Herc and Clyde Stubblefield
AfroFlow is not a style of music, it is self-expression. It is an ideology that acknowledges Africa as the earthly birthplace of humankind & artistic articulation. DJ Kool Herc is a Jamaican-born DJ who is credited with originating hip hop music, in the Bronx, New York City. As one of Hip Hop’s founding Fathers, Kool Herc’s reputation and influence has outlasted the vaguaries of musical fashion. Clyde Stubblefield IS the FUNKY DRUMMER! He drummed for James Brown from 1965 to 1970 and recorded such hits as “I Feel Good,” “Coldsweat,” and “The Funky Drummer.” Clyde is the most sampled artist ever, providing some of the most famous and familiar grooves used by DJ’s and hip-hop artists around the world.
Saturday: Kings Go Forth
w/ Mama Digtown’s Brass Band
