Mike Reed’s People, Places & Things is a jazz and improvised music quartet led by drummer Mike Reed. Howard Reich of the Chicago Tribune writes “Each of its players thrives at the razor’s edge of the Chicago jazz avant-garde, and each commands a following of his own.”
Chicago drummer Mike Reed is known by many music fans as the founder of the Pitchfork Music Festival, but around Chicago and the world he known as one of the most innovative drummers and band leaders in modern jazz and improvised music.
He created People, Places & Things with the original intent of investigating and reinventing some of the under-recorded, under-recognized aspects of Chicago jazz circa 1954-60.
