WILD NOTHING is a one-man indie pop band created by Jack Tatum of Virginia. Gemini, the band’s first album, was released in Spring 2010 with a follow up EP, Golden Haze, out this past October. Tatum’s nostalgic, dreamy sound can be likened to the Pains of Being Pure at Heart and The Smiths. With a lot of recent hype, Wild Nothing has received numerous achievements including the 49th best album of 2010 by Pitchfork for Gemini. Check out one of their music videos below.
ABE VIGODA could once be described as tropical punk. The four-piece ensemble hailing from LA released their fourth LP, Crush, last September. Now, the AV Club suggests, “perhaps in an attempt to retreat as far from tropics as possible, Abe Vigoda has turned to a frigid approximation of ’80s darkwave melodrama.” Fans of No Age and Titus Andronicus will enjoy their experimental sound.
SECRET CITIES will be up first. The band of three mixes lo-fi, folk, synths, and various instruments with vocals. Stereogum calls their dream pop sound “intimate and immediately likable…it gets better and better the more you listen to it.” Pink Graffiti, their album debut, was released last summer.
You won’t want to miss this show. I know I’m excited!
