Friday night at The Sett & Terrace: Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. DJ Set and First Friday Music Fest

We told you this weekend was going to have some unforgettable acts, and it all starts this Thursday night in Music Hall with Mount Eerie. The excitement then continues Friday night with Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. performing a DJ Set for the Union South Bash and the First Friday Music Fest taking over The Terrace stage.

Although a fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr., the band Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. is completely different from the race car driver (obviously- although according to Pitchfork, they have dressed in nascar “regalia” for shows). Musicians Joshua Epstein and Daniel Scott formed Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. back in 2007 and since have established themselves as a indie-pop electronic group in their albums It’s a Corporate World (2011), and Horse Power EP (2011)The duo have also established their stage performances as a comedic/quirky ensemble. Which is essentially what our UW-Madison audience will witness since Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. will be doing a DJ Set for the Union South Bash. The energetic group does have their own remixes that can be heard on their My Love is Easy: Remixes Pt. 1, but the only way to truly see what kind of show they will put on is to simply…go. You can also check out a free download at the bottom of this preview.

If your not looking for electronic-pop music to get your body dancing, check out the First Friday Music Fest on The Terrace where you’ll be moving to the beats of Jazz, Motown, Folk and Rock. Local artists Anna Laube, Ben Ferris, Ben Phillips, Catherine Harris, Christin Whitener, Dantrell Cotton, Dr. Dolphin, Gerri DiMaggio, Jim Castaneda, Kristen Schram, Martin Potter, Pat Coughlin, Paul Hastil, and Riley Sattler will all perform for the night. Although we’d love to tell you something about every single musician, we’ll just give you a little insight to a couple to save you from an extremely long preview. Anna Laube is a local musician that performs her folk/country songs with a soothing voice, which can be heard in “Hippie Boyfriend,” and “Om Namah Shivaya (Ulysses).” On the jazz-side of the First Friday Music Fest, Gerri DiMaggio will perform her unique jazz sound that has latin influences fused in each song like “Stolen Moments.” All of our local artists performing this Friday night also have their unique tunes that should be heard live.
