Major WUD Music News: Ra Ra Riot in Der Rathskeller

Now please, do not start a “riot” after you read that we are welcoming Ra Ra Riot to our stage this spring semester. Ah, what the heck- riot people! WUD Music is giving you the opportunity to see Ra Ra Riot for FREE in the intimate setting of the Der Rathskeller on March 2nd, 2013.

Ra Ra Riot is a pop/rock band from Syracuse, NY that started their efforts around the notion of college rock. In 2007, they were first signed to the record label of V2 Records, which is also the label of The Black Keys, Elbow, and The White Stripes, and released their first album, The Rhumb Line in 2008 that received a 7.5 on the pitchfork scale. They have been climbing the ladder of well-known indie bands and because of their individuality, their next album, The Orchard, was released in 2010 with the collaboration of Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij.

In January 2011, Ra Ra Riot was nominated for the 10th annual Independent Music Awards under the pop/rock genre for their album, The Orchard. Songs like “Boy” have the light-heartedness sometimes heard by Vampire Weekend and the up-beat cuteness acquired by the vocals of Wes Miles. “You And I Know” also shows the subtly of a delicate, slow tempo but instrumental emphasis in the background.

We are all pumped to bring you this great little treasure of a band, so make sure you mark your calendars now. But don’t worry, we’ll always be here to remind you of how awesome this show will be.
