Urban sound is where it’s at tonight at The Sett in Union South. Kill the Vultures and Kristoff Krane were brought together for a sole purpose: to perform their specialty of alternative hip-hop for a smashing Madison audience.
Let your mind escape with the soft, hypnotic rhythm of Kill the Vultures, a Minneapolis based group that formed in the year of 2005. Members Crescent Moon and Anatomy were previously the founders of Oddjobs prior to 2005, but decided to re-establish themselves within Kill the Vultures, along with additional artists Nomi and Advizer. Their debut album in 2005 combined the likes of interpretive, but honest dialogue and head-nodding, foot-stomping harmony. As their hip-hop style developed over the years, Kill the Vultures’ latest release, Ecce Beast of 2009, has the ability to subtly entrance any listener by their delicate but piercing instrumental background and continuous string of picturesque lyrics.
Kill the Vultures will bring their own rendition of hip-hop, but that’s not to say their opener, Kristoff Krane, will do anything less of a performance. Also based out of Minneapolis, Kristoff Krane is a musician who is able to glorify the art of rhyming. His most recent releases, Hunting for Father and Picking Flowers Next to Roadkill, cut to the chase as hip-hop albums with slick combinations of worded messages and rich melody. Beyond the life of a musician, Kristoff Krane also encourages creative writing in poetry and has taught this visionary skill to many schools in the Twin Cities area.
Both artists are admirable at what they do, so give them your support by enjoying a few show tonight at The Sett. Check out free downloads below and a little preview for the night to come.
