This Wednesday and Thursday On The Terrace

Summer in Madison is an amazing experience and WUD Music’s Terrace shows are not to be missed!

Wednesday we bring you the first of many A.V. Club Local Music Wednesdays with The United Sons of Toil and El Valiente. This series, co-sponsored by the Madison A.V. Club, runs from June 8 until August 3 and features some of the best bands Madison has to offer, all summer long.

El Valiente is an experimental indie rock band from Madison. On their latest work from 2009, Daceton, guitarist Eric Caldera mixes lyrical Latin music and spooky Western scores into the band’s distinctly non-bloated take on epic post-rock. The United Sons of Toil is an experimental noiserock group from Madison. Their collective is deeply rooted in the grinding noise and math rock that bubbled up from the Midwest during the mid ’90s.

Every Thursday from June 9 to August 4, we bring you favorite local and regional bluegrass and Americana bands that will jam on the Terrace for a happy hour of foot-tapping and dancing. Look forward to Cork n’ Bottle String Band this week.

Our Thursday night programming this week will be Afro-Zep with Seneke Ensemble. Afro-Zep is a jazz, afrobeat, and rock group, originating in 2009 with the mission to spread African music to wider audiences while paying tribute to the greatest Heavy Rock band of all time. Seneke Ensemble is a group of committed artists that skillfully teach and perform traditional forms of West African music, song and dance.

Shows on Lake Mendota are a beloved summer tradition so make sure you head out to the Terrace!

*In nice weather, the shows will take place on the UW Credit Union Summer Stage on Memorial Union Terrace. In inclement weather, shows will move indoors to Der Rathskeller.
